Who comes to live in St Andrews's House

St Andrew’s House was opened to provide care for older members of the Free Churches of Coventry and District. Whilst staying true to those ideals, if we have rooms available, we are pleased to welcome all applicants aged over 60 years from any denomination or none.

We keep one room available for short stays (respite care) and many people have found this a good introduction to the home before they need to come on a permanent basis. This also provides opportunity for carers to take a well earned holiday, secure in the knowledge that their relative is being cared for while they are away.

Some friends from the local Churches associated with the home elect to have their name entered onto a long-term waiting list, so that they are known to the home prior to needing accommodation.

Prior to admission to St Andrew’s House, the Manager will arrange to visit and assess whether the home will be able to provide the care a prospective resident needs at that time. When people move in they have one month to decide whether this is ‘the place for them’. During this period, the aim is to achieve a plan of care with which everyone involved is happy.
