About Us

St Andrew's House, Coventry, is a residential home for the elderly run by the Trustees of St Andrew's House. The home was opened in 1956 and originally operated under the name of Coventry and District Free Church Homes for the Elderly. On 25th August 2009 the Charity Commission for England and Wales issued a new scheme and today the charity is known as "St Andrew’s House", registered Charity 214293

The home can currently accommodate up to twenty-eight people in single rooms and has one large and two smaller lounges, a large dining room and extensive gardens.

We have recently built a new extension which will upgrade all of our rooms to more spacious, modern, en suite rooms. Phase I is now complete adding the first 8 new rooms. We are currently fundraising to complete phase II and III of this £2 million project.

The house is close to Earlsdon shopping centre and on a main bus route. Click here for a map

Our Care Manager is Mrs Lesley Eaton.

St Andrew’s aims to provide a caring, Christian environment which offers choice and independence, supporting our elderly residents to live a constructive, positive and fulfilling lifestyle.

Our objectives are:-

  • To provide high quality residential care in a pleasant and friendly environment.
  • To enable residents to have as much choice and independence as they are capable of.
  • To constantly strive to improve residents’ services.
  • To invest in staff, developing their skills so that residents’ services can improve.
  • To ensure the requirements of Social Services and the Care Quality Commission are not only reached, but wherever possible, exceeded.

How are we organised?

The Charity Trustees are elected as representatives of the Free Churches of Coventry, or are co-opted for their particular knowledge or skills. They are responsible for the management of the home.

The Board is chaired by Mr Kenneth Holmes RIBA and the Vice Chairman is Mr Peter Amery JP. Other members are Mr Ron Jackson,  Mrs A Bruffell, Mr R Drew MBE, Mrs M A Dunwoody JP, Mr G Eames, Mr D Mills and  Dr W P Watson.

Our Care Manager Mrs Lesley Eaton has a Diploma in Welfare Studies, holds the Registered Managers Award, and has attained NVQ Level 4 in Care and NVQ Level 5 in Management.

Lesley is responsible for the day to day management of the home. During the day there is a Supervisor and three Care Assistants on duty.

We are committed to NVQ training and all members of staff are encouraged to undertake NVQ training up to Level 4.

Our Activities Organiser arranges a varied programme to cover individual requirements and group participation events. Entertainment is also provided by local volunteer groups, Churches and professional artists.

Optional devotions are led by our Chaplain, Rev Hilda Wild, and a team of volunteers and services normally take place on Sundays and Wednesdays.

In addition we have volunteers and Friends who commit so much of their personal time and energies to ensure the home provides a comfortable and efficient environment for the family of residents.
